Football: Five Games To Watch This Weekend
Finally!!!!! The International break is done and dusted.
Club football returns again to TV and Naijaloaded highlights the
fixtures YOU SHOULDN’T DARE TO MISS this weekend.
Tottenham vs Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp’s arrival at Liverpool makes this early kickoff encounter a
must watch. The former Dortmund manager replaces Brendan Rodgers,
who was sacked after the disappointing draw at Everton.
Klopp would hope to make a strong start in his first game as Liverpool’s
boss, but Tottenham are certainly no pushovers.
At home, the North London side are a force to be reckoned with- This
feat was brutally illustrated with the 4-1 victory against the high-flying
Manchester City back in September.
Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Liverpool
Everton vs Manchester United
After the abysmal display at the Emirates, Louis van Gaal side must be at
their best when they travel to Merseyside to take on Everton.
The Dutchman manager was highly critical of his players, as they let in
three goals in barely 15 minutes in an unforgettable afternoon in North
London.
One player though who would be under pressure to perform is Memphis
Depay. The £27m acquisition from PSV has failed to turn up when it
matters, scoring just once in eight Premier League games. He was an
invisible figure for Netherland during the International break as his
country failed to qualify for the Euro 2016.
In what is a must win game for the Red devils in their fight for the title,
Everton will be very hard to crack though.
Prediction: Everton 0-0 Manchester United
Inter vs Juventus
After an impressive run, Mancini’s men were knocked off top spot by
Fiorentina last time following a draw with Sampdoria.
When Serie A football returns, they host the reigning Scudetto holders,
Juventus.
Records unfortunately speak against Milan. The Club’s last victory
against Juventus was a 2-0 win under Jose Mourinho in September 2010.
But Mancini isn’t bothered about the odds.
“Beating Juventus will be important. We haven’t beaten them at home
for five years now, so I’d say it’s time to do it again,” Mancini is quoted
as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Prediction: Inter 2-3 Juventus
Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano
Barcelona are presented with a chance to get things right when they host
Rayo Vallecano in Camp Nou.
Luis Enrique’s men are struggling to adapt without their talisman Lionel
Messi, who is out of action for months with a knee injury.
With Madrid playing hosts to Levante, the La Liga champions are under
immense pressure to keep on toes with their title competitors.
We are up for surprises but Barcelona will have a walk in the park.
Prediction: Barcelona 4-0 Rayo Vallecano
Watford vs Arsenal
The rhetoric is all too familiar- Arsenal are title contenders- yet this
concept seem to have eluded Arsene Wenger for years.
But this season is easy to tease. Even though Wenger surprisingly
refused to sign an outfield player, Arsenal could go top of the Premier
League table on Saturday if they beat Watford and results in other games
go their way.
And it’s hard not to fancy the gunners for this clash.
Prediction: Watford 0-2 Arsenal
