Five players to watch when the Premier League resumes
Alexis Sanchez banged a brace as Arsenal beat Manchester United 3-0
at the Emirates
The international break has halted Premier League football matches
across England. On the bright side, it returns again next weekend and
Meeklanreh highlights some players to watch out for.
1) Antony Martial- Manchester United: The expensive youngster has
had a scintillating start to his Premier League career, netting 3 goals in 4
appearances. And though he couldn’t continue his red hot form at the
Emirates, the French international still displayed rare glimpse of what he
is capable of, and had it not been for a wonderful save from Arsenal’s
stopper Petr Cech before half time, the 19-year old could have been on
the score sheet.
2) Alexis Sanchez- Arsenal: It was a case of being foolish to write off
the Chilean’s attributes after a slow start to the season. Not surprisingly,
Sanchez is rapidly regaining his form once again. After a mouthwatering
hat-trick at Leicester, he was again at the mix of things when Arsenal
destroyed Manchester United at the Emirates. First, he deftly turned in a
Mesut Ozil’s low cross to fire his side to deserved lead after immense
pressure early on.
Then, he exacerbated United’s misery when he sent in a screamer from
20 yards to send the home faithful into raptures.
3) Sergio Aguero- Manchester City: The Argentine increased his goal
tally of the season to 6 with a five-goal thriller against Newcastle last
week. The usual Aguero antics.
4) Kevin De Bruyne- Manchester City: If the Chelsea exodus wasn’t all
gleaming for the Belgium international, however, the former Wolfsburg
star has settled on his return to England – 3 goals in 4 appearances, De
Bruyne has become a key part of Manuel Pellegrini’s plan. A wonderful
acquisition indeed.
5) Petr Cech- Arsenal: It was beyond ludicrous when Chelsea decided to
sell their top prized asset to a London rival. Petr Cech is arguably one of
the top signings of the summer. The goalkeeper currently has a save
percentage of 81.56%, the highest in the league, and currently boasts 4
clean sheet this season. With another stunning heroic between the sticks
against Manchester United, manager Arsene Wenger must have been
delighted to have splashed the cash for the 33-year old.
